Dr. Dan Reidenberg

Dr. Dan Reidenberg, Psy.D., is the Managing Director of the National Council for Suicide Prevention, Founder and Director of Safe Online Standards, and Director of Thrive at the Mental Health Coalition. He is a Subject Matter Expert on the Consultant’s Roster for the World Health Organization and as a special advisor to the International Association for Suicide Prevention he serves as Co-Chair of the Media and Suicide Task Force. He is a Certified Psychological Autopsy Investigator and serves on several national and international editorial boards.
Dan speaks internationally and has written more than 60 articles and 6 book chapters on mental health and suicide. He has worked as an adjunct instructor for the Poynter Institute and the WHO training journalists, created a national Award for Excellence in Media Reporting on Suicide as well as the world’s only Certification for Safe Messaging program. He wrote the Best Practice Recommendations for Media Reporting on Suicide; the Best Practices for Reporting on Mass Shootings; and the Best Practices for Blogging on Suicide tools and helped develop the Media Recommendations on Bullying. He is the co-lead for the World Health Organization’s Media Guide for Reporting on Suicide and the WHO’s Resource for Filmmakers and others working on Stage and Screen for Entertainment Industry Depictions on Mental Health and Suicide.
He has been interviewed by major media including ABC, CBS, CNN, FOX, NBC, CNN, Larry King, Good Morning America, Good Morning Europe, Headline News, Inside Edition, The New York Times, The Washington Post, Huffington Post, Time, Newsweek, US News, People, Rolling Stone, BBC and radio in Australia, Russia, Canada and the UK. Dan received the Service to Humanity Award, Service to Suicidology Award, as a Champion of Change by The Obama Administration and he is recognized in Who’s Who in America and Who’s Who in the World.
