Avit Ndayiziga is the Editor-In-Chief at Community Voice in Burundi, a community-based media outlet that investigates and publishes underreported stories shedding light on various issues such as climate change, health, corruption, human rights, and others plaguing the community. Avit has profound experience in reporting on climate change and health-related topics. To this end, he has worked with Internews Health Journalism Network and AGA KHAN UNIVERSITY through its Excellence in Health Journalism Fellowship to produce in-depth and data-driven stories focusing on HIV/AIDS and noncommunicable diseases such as hypertension and others. He has also worked with InfoNile, a regional media outlet, producing water-related stories that compelled the authorities to make major decisions on groundwater protection. Avit has been trained and certified by Oxford Climate Journalism Network where he honed his climate change reporting skills. Following the certification, he has covered and reported on the Conference of Parties (COP28) in Dubai, in 2023. He also covered and reported on the IAS 2023, the 12th IAS Conference on HIV Science held in Brisbane, Australia in July 2023, the United Nations Internet Governance Forum (IGF22) held in Addis Ababa Ethiopia in December 2022 and the Afrinic-31 Fellowship held in Luanda Angola in 2019.
