Melanie Saltzman reports, shoots and produces stories for PBS NewsHour Weekend. Much of her reporting focuses on topics exploring mental and public health, food, the environment and international affairs. Reporting highlights include producing two stories for NewsHour’s Emmy-nominated “America Addicted” series on the opioid epidemic, reporting from the Marshall Islands on climate change, covering landmine victim assistance programs in Cambodia and traveling to Africa for a series of solutions-based reports.
She is currently a Pulitzer Center grantee and producing a multi-part international series for PBS NewsHour Weekend on “the Future of Food.” In 2010, she was awarded a Fulbright scholarship in Berlin, Germany. Melanie holds a masters degree in Journalism from Northwestern University, where she was a McCormick National Security Fellow.
